LOW in January
It’s January and usually the Walleye bite is known to slow down a little bit, but you can still manage to put fish on the ice.
We left Home around 5:00 A.M., arriving to Lake of the Woods at about 8:00 A.M., we found out that a couple resorts were shut down because of a crack in the ice they had to deal with, so we went to the next closest road which was Adrian’s road that crosses pine island.
We started out in 32 FOW, but weren’t finding active biters, we then went in search mode and tried different depths, finally finding some active fish in 31 FOW. We caught quite a few Walleyes as well as Saugers and the trip turned out pretty good.
We found the best jig to be a pink and gold jigging spoon tipped with a shiner head.
Now is a great time to get up to Lake of the Woods
